Granada is the city of one of the most important poets of the Generation of 1927, Federico García Lorca. His hometown pays tribute to this figure one more year with a new edition of the season Lorca y Granada en los Jardines del Generalife, this year with the show Flamencolorquiano.

Federico García Lorca is considered the most flamenco poet. Works such as Gypsy Ballads are based on flamenco and gypsy art. He wanted to transform this popular genre into a highbrow one. Artists like Camarón de la Isla or Estrella Morante have sung Lorca’s texts.

Flamencolorquiano is a flamenco show in which Lorca’s texts will be sung and danced in the form of fandangosbuleríasromancesalegrías and other typical styles of the jondo art. Furthermore, other works inspiration of this artist will be also danced. Works of artists like Manuel Torre or Pastora Pavón Niña de los Peines.

The Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, directed by Rafael Estévez, will be in charge of the production of this work, which will be celebrated at Jardines del Generalife between the 19th July and the 1st September. Dance, poetry, folk singing… Flamencolorquiano is art in all its forms.
